Yesterday was a day filled with pride and joy. The weather was ideal and TEAM ROAR MARATHON had a blast from the start until the finish.
Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and cheer us on. We had cheering stations from Brooklyn all the way to the finish line. You have no idea what an impact this had on our race. Knowing that there is someone up ahead waiting to cheer you on, gives you all the motivation you need to keep moving forward! Check out this fliapgram from my teammate, Tracey:
Collectively, TEAM ROAR MARATHON raised over $125,000 for Fred’s Team. The money we raised will go to The Scarlett Fund and will have a tremendous impact in funding this $1.5MM initiative for pediatric cancer research. I am so grateful and so thankful for your continued generosity. (Please contact me if you would like details on The Scarlett Fund.) Running the marathon was so inspiring. I was truly humbled to honor 26 children and adults in my marathon dedications. I was so proud to be running for Fred’s Team. I felt invigorated as I ran seeing so many friends and family out there cheering me on. For 26.2 miles, I was fighting cancer in my own way. I had “IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT CANCER” written on the back of my bright orange Fred’s Team t-shirt and I know thousands of volunteers, spectators and fellow runners read that message. Not only did TEAM ROAR raise awareness but we also raised an abundance of money! To all of you who contributed, cheered us on, or ran the marathon, it was truly a team effort and I say, job well done.
If any of you now have the running bug, please consider joining TEAM ROAR MARATHON 2016! I promise that you will be inspired and will have the experience of a lifetime. If I can do it, you can definitely do it! Fred’s Team takes great care of you by offering coaching, team training runs, and transportation with police escort to a heated tent in Staten Island. Once you cross the finish line, a Fred’s Team Volunteer will escort you to the heated recovery tent and even massage your feet! In fact, I pledge to massage anyone’s feet who runs the marathon with TEAM ROAR next year! All you have to do is run 26.2 miles! If the marathon is not your cup of tea but you would still like to join one of TEAM ROAR/THE SCARLETT FUND events please see below.
